Joseph Junior Provost
BILLERICA Joseph Junior Provost, 98, a
longtime Lowell resident, passed away on Saturday, May 23 at the Life
Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica.
Born February 28, 1922,
in Skowhegan, Maine, she was a son of the late Joseph Bernard Provost
and the late Marguerite Mary (Turcotte) Provost. He was educated in the
Skowhegan area. He later went on to work with Raytheon, where he
designed test equipment for many years before his retirement.
Mr.
Provost dedicated his life to the service of his country. He served
with the United States Army during WWII and later with the United States
Marine Corps during the Korean War. He is a true patriot and a member
of our greatest generation.
Joe was a very social guy, was always
friendly and personable to everyone. He always had time to ask how you
were doing and ask if there was anything he could do for you. He enjoyed
a party and was always asking the ladies for a dance, as he was a very
good dancer.
Although he leaves no living relatives behind, he is
survived by his family of friends, including his fellow veterans,
especially those he resided with for the past 20 years on Summer Street
and Appleton Street.
DUE TO MA STATE REGULATIONS DURING THE
COVID-19 PANDEMIC, HIS FUNERAL WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE. MR. PROVOST
WILL BE BURIED WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS AT THE BOURNE NATIONAL
