Joseph F. ‘Big Joe’ Silva Sr.
LOWELL Joseph F. ‘Big Joe’ Silva Sr. 52, of Lowell, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Lowell General Hospital after a lengthy illness with his family by his side. He was the husband of Patricia (Dowd) Silva, with whom he celebrated their Thirty Fourth Wedding Anniversary this year.
A son of the late Raymond D. and the late Alexandrina (Branco) Silva, he was born February 20, 1956, in Faial, Azores, Portugal, moving to the United States with his family at a young age. He was educated in the local schools.
Joe loved riding his motorcycle, tattoos, and fishing, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
He worked as a Union Laborer in Demolition, and was a member of Local 1421, Laborers Union.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by four children, Joseph F. Silva and his wife, Melissa, of Lynn, Melissa J. Silva and her fiancee, Alan S. Lehouillier of Lowell, Jessica M. Silva of Newton, and Michael A. Silva of Lowell; four grandchildren, Autumn M. Silva, Madyson E. Silva, Jude M. Silva, and Aylah B. Silva; two sisters, Mary Alice Ste. Marie and her husband, Richard, and Mary Hassett and her husband, Michael; two brothers, Manuel Silva and his wife, Shannon, and Raymond Silva and his fiancee, Brenda Frynns; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.
His was also the son in law of the late John and Mae Dowd
