John Sousa Machado

LOWELL John Sousa Machado, 80, of Lowell, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 in the comfort of his home.
Born November 8, 1934 in Lowell, he was a son of the late Joseph S. Machado, and the late Leonor L. (Picanso) Machado. He was educated in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1952. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country at McDill Air Force Base and Orlando Air Force Base before his honorable discharge in 1957. He worked as a letter carrier for 10 years with the United States Postal Service in Lowell. He was also the proprietor of Oakland Barber Shop in Oakland Square in Belvidere. A resident of South Lowell for the past 65 years, John enjoyed fishing, playing tennis, reading, baking and national politics.
He is survived by his 3 nephews and his niece, Daniel Machado of Nashua, Donna Machado of Concord, NH, Leonard DeSousa of Lowell, Mark DeSousa of Tyngsboro.
He was also the brother of the late Daniel S. Machado and Dorothy C. DeSousa.
