John ‘Jack’ ‘Moose’ Moran

TEWKSBURY John (Jack) Francis ‘Moose’ Moran, 80, of Tewksbury, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Fairhaven Nursing Home after a courageous battle with kidney failure. He was the widower of the late Mary L. (McKenney), the love of his life, who passed away in August of 1991 with whom he shared over twenty five wonderful years of marriage.
A son of the late Arthur P. and the late Christina Isabella (O’Neil) Moran, he was born January 26, 1931, in Lowell, grew up in the Lower Belvidere Section of the City, attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School, and graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1949.
Mr. Moran joined the United States Air Force in 1952, serving four years during the Korean Conflict. He was very proud of his Country, and as a veteran, he took tremendous pride in his service to his Country
For over thirty four years before his retirement, Jack worked as a dispatcher with the Massachusetts State Police receiving many awards and commendations for his service, saving countless lives.
Moose was an avid sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox, and had a large sports memorabilia collection.
He is survived by his brothers, Gerald P. Moran of Chelmsford, Robert J. Moran of Portland, ME, Thomas E. Moran and his wife, Irene, of Chelmsford; his sister, Mary T. Muldoon and her husband, Frank B., of Lowell; his nieces, Wendy Robbins, Stephanie Ludwig, Alison Polesi, Amy Moran, and Tiffany Avilla, with whom he was very close; his four grand nephews; and his two grand nieces.
