John T. Finneral
Vietnam Veteran, U. S. Postal Retiree
LOWELL John T. Finneral, a resident of South Lowell, died unexpectedly, April 10, 2018, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus.
Born in Lowell on December 30, 1942, he was the son of the late Gilbert J. Finneral and the late Julia J. (Stefan)(Finneral) Fox.
Mr. Finneral was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1961. He was also a graduate of New England Institute of Anatomy of Boston, Class of 1963.
A Veteran of the United States Navy Corpsmen, he served with the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines, 1st MARDIV in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1968.
He was employed as a Funeral Director Assistant for M. H. McDonough Sons Funeral Home from 1961 until the 1980’s. He was also employed as a clerk at the Lowell Post Office for twenty eight years having retired in January 1998.
Mr. Finneral was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Polish Church and was affectionately known by his family and friends as 'Jasiu'. A proud resident of the City of Lowell, John could be found at Winterfest, Folkfest, and at Boarding House Park or just walking throughout his city.
His survivors include his sister, Helene J. Finneral of Lowell; and his nieces and nephews, Karen Scott and her husband, Brian, and their children, Adam and Ashley of Nashua, NH, David Finneral and his wife, Robin, of Nashua, NH, Daniel Finneral and his wife, Jamie, of Salem, NH, and Kevin Finneral of Hudson, NH; as well as many cousins and friends.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 2 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON MONDAY, APRIL 16. ON TUESDAY HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT HOLY TRINITY POLISH CHURCH, 340 HIGH STREET, LOWELL AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
