John F. ‘Jack’ Daly
LOWELL John F. ‘Jack’ Daly, 85, a lifelong Lowell resident and loving husband to Augusta M. "Gussie" (Barros) Daly, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at his home after a long illness.
A son of the late John and the late Mary (Duffy) Daly, he was born March 22, 1928, in Lowell, and educated in the local schools, graduating from Keith Academy.
Making his lifelong home in Lowell, he was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. He worked as an draftsman at Raytheon Corporation for over thirty years in Bedford before his retirement.
Jack was a member of the Boston Jazz Society and was a dedicated baseball fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and was a life member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. He also enjoyed trains, history, nature, reading, and had also enjoyed traveling.
In addition to his loving wife, Gussie, he is survived by his children, John F. Daly and his wife, Tracey, of Fremont, NH, Martin Daly and Annette Carrier of Pembroke, NH, Stephen Daly and his wife, Maureen, of Lowell, and Michelle Bedell of Lowell; his six grandchildren, Brendan Daly, Christopher Daly, Morgan Daly, Brooke Daly and Katherine Daly, and Lauren Bedell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also husband to the late Eleanor Daly who passed away in 1982.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON MONDAY, JANUARY 6. ON TUESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MICHAEL CHURCH, 543 BRIDGE ST, LOWELL, AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY. MEMORIALS IN HIS NAME TO ST.
