John Anthony “Tony” Lobao
“Beloved Son, Brother and Uncle, gifted musician”

LOWELL John Anthony Lobao, “Tony” as he was known, died unexpectedly on September 28, 2012.
Born June 9, 1960, he was a son of the late John and the late Virginia (Texiera) Lobao. He graduated from the Greater Lowell Vocational School, Class of 1978, with a plumbing trade.

Tony was a self taught musician who played the trumpet, guitar and drums in many local bands. Prior to his illness, he was also a longtime member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was an enthusiastic camper at Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation, the Boy Scout camp in Northwood, NH. He was also a member of The Renaissance Club in Lowell, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends.

He was known to others as a kind and gentle man, who wanted everyone to have peace. Tony’s appreciation for music was what set him free and brought him to places that no one could hear or feel except for him. His love for music was his legacy.
Tony is survived by his brother, Brian J. Lobao and his wife, Linda, of Chelmsford, his sister, Louise Mahan and her husband, Mark, of Lowell, his nieces, Emily B. Lobao of Chelmsford and Meghann V. Mahan of Lowell, a loving aunt, Pat Texiera of Lowell and a very special friend, Charlene Surprenant along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family of Tony Lobao would like to sincerely thank The Mental Health Association of Greater Lowell and all the staff who cared for Tony for more than 30 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mental Health Association, 99 Church Street, Lowell, MA 01852, in memory of Tony Lobao.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2012 AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL, MA 01852.
