Joanne Roberts

"Loving Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother"

LOWELL Josephine A. ‘Joanne’ Roberts, 65, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Lowell General Hospital after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Douglas M. Roberts who died in 1998.

A daughter of the late Joseph and the late Isabel (Pyne) Hackett, she was born October 10, 1946, in Lowell, and educated in the Lowell School System, graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1964.

Joanne grew up in Lowell’s Back Central Street Area, and was a member of the former St. Peter’s Parish, before making her longtime home in Pawtucketville where she was a communicant of St. Rita’s Church.

She enjoyed spending time with family, but was also an avid shopper, and especially enjoyed shopping for shoes. She enjoyed day trips and traveling to Amish Country in Lancaseter, PA.

Mrs. Roberts worked as a customer service representative for Sovereign Bank in Chelmsford for over thirty years before illness forced her retirement.

She is survived by her children, Steven P. Roberts and his fiancee, Dorothy Donovan, both of Lowell, Patricia L. Bower and her husband, Sam, of Hudson, NH, Pamela L. Arshalian and her husband, Richard, of Hudson, NH, and Julie Riley and her husband, Mark; her sister, Debra Gorski of Merrimack, NH; her grandchildren, Jennifer Castiglioni and her husband, Eric, of Hooksett, NH, Samantha Brady of Hudson, NH, Adam Bower of Hudson, Douglas Bower of Hudson, Kimberly Bower of Hudson, and Danielle Riley and Michael Riley both of Lowell; her great grandchildren, Hailey, David, Eric Jr., and Ryan; her nephew and Godson, Joey Gorski of Merrimack, NH; and several longtime friends, especially Joanne DelPapa of Chelmsford.

She was also a sister in law of the late Richard A. Gorski.
