Jean R. (Cirillo) Creegan
CHELMSFORD Jean R. (Cirillo) Creegan, 90, of Chelmsford, passed away after a brief illness, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul F. Creegan, Sr who passed away November 5, 2014 after celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary.
She was born in Dracut on July 13, 1926 and was a daughter of the late James Cirillo and the late Lauretta (Heffernan) Cirillo. She was raised in Lowell where she attended the area public schools, graduating from Lowell State Teachers College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Jean then continued on to earn her Master’s Degree in Library Science from Fitchburg State University.
Jean dedicated her career to education. She began her teaching career at the Newton Public Schools and later taught at St. Margaret School, the Lincoln School, and the Bailey School. She was also a volunteer Librarian at St. Margaret School for over 18 years. The Jean R. Creegan Library in the Bailey School was named after her. In her retirement, she loved walking, reading and spending time with her large family.
Jean is survived by her four children, Paul F. Creegan, Jr. and his wife, Helen of Walpole, Kathleen Creegan Damaskos and her husband, Arthur of Mattapoisett, Brian Creegan and his wife, Ann of Tyngsboro, and Karen C. Keenan and her husband, Robert of Wellesley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Marc Creegan and his wife, Toni of Charlton, Heather Creegan of Fall River, Anna-Jean McGillvray and her husband, Michael of Westwood, Shawn Creegan of Nashua, NH, Alison Damaskos of Alexandria, VA, Elena Damaskos of New Haven, CT, and Ryan, Dylan, and Brendan Keenan all of Wellesley; a great granddaughter, Catherine McGillvray of Westwood; her siblings, Mary Calo and her husband, Anthony of Medfield, and James Cirillo and his wife, Jean of Ossipee, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, the late Claire Oswald Hersee and the late Irene Sigvardson.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED WEDNESDAY AT ST. MARGARET CHURCH, 374 STEVENS STREET, LOWELL AT 10 A.M..
A PROCESSION WILL FOLLOW FOR BURIAL AT ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
