Janet M. (Vassar) O’Brien

LOWELL Janet M. (Vassar) O’Brien, 83, of Dracut passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell. She was the widow of the late Jack O’Brien.

Janet was born in Dracut on November 30, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Leo Emmett Vassar and the late Charlotte (Cosgrove) Vassar. She grew up in Dracut where she attended the local schools, graduating from Dracut High School.

She was a lifelong Dracut resident and was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Lowell. Janet was employed as a customer representative for the telephone company, and she was very active with Telephone Pioneers.
Janet is survived by her nieces, nephews, and cousins including Anne Marie Carr-Reardon; and her dear friends including, Tsai-Ping Cheng, James Wagner, and her many neighbors.

She was also the sister of the late Donald Vassar of Greenfield, MA.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS FROM 4:30 UNTIL 6:30 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 20 AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL, 978-458-6816.

ON THURSDAY, HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MICHAEL CHURCH, 543 BRIDGE STREET, LOWELL AT 10 A.M.  FOLLOWED BY BUIRAL AT ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
