James Freitas
“Beloved Brother, Husband, Father & Grandfather”
LOWELL James Freitas, 65, of Lowell, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 27, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Shirley Freitas, with whom he was married since 1968.
Born April 11, 1946, in Lowell, he was a son of the late Joseph, and the late Irene (Laskowski) Freitas. He attended the local schools, and was a graduate of The Greater Lowell Technical High School. Mr. Freitas served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
A lifelong Lowell resident, he lived in Lowell’s downtown area for the past 8 years. He worked for the Courier Citizen Corp. as a machinist for many years and later for Raytheon as an inspector before his retirement. An avid jogger, he would frequently be seen jogging all throughout the city of Lowell especially downtown and the Shedd Park area. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his “grand-dogs”, but most of all, he loved being a Grandfather to Autumn and Skyla.
Besides his wife, Shirley, he is survived by 2 daughters and a son; Tammy Carbonneau of Dracut, Michael A. Freitas of Lowell and Jodyanne Freitas-Gillis of Dracut. His 2 granddaughters; Autumn and Skyla Gillis of Dracut, 2 brothers; Richard Freitas of Peterborough, NH, Stanley Freitas and his wife, Jeannie, of Chelmsford and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Joseph Freitas.
