LOWELL - JAMES DEMETRIUS “CHICK” CHICKLIS, 57 of Lowell died Wednesday, August 24th at Mass General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. He was the husband of Karen (Bomal) Chicklis for many years.
He is survived by his two sons, Justin Chicklis of Beverly, and Christopher Chicklis of Dracut whom he loved with all his heart. He had many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Born March 30, 1954 in Kalamata Greece, he was the son of the late George and the late Sophia (Zeppos) Chicklis, and at the age of four, came back to the United States with his family settling in Lowell. He was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church where he had been an altar server and also attended Greek school there in his younger days while also attending the Lowell schools.
Chick loved spending time with his boys going to watch all their football and baseball games over the years, also loved going to the circus . He was a huge Patriot fan, Celtics, Boston Red Sox and also loved the NY Yankees. Chick enjoyed all types of music. Chick worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad for over 15 years and more recently worked as a machinist at Shanklyn Corporation until a stroke forced him into retirement.
