Ivo Rosa Lima
Beloved Father and Grandfather
LOWELL Ivo Rosa Lima, 57, of Lowell, passed away after a battle with cancer, Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus. He was the beloved husband of 35 years to the late Filomena (Meneses) Lima who passed away in January 2014.
Born April 25, 1957 in Terciera, Azores, Portugal, and he was a son of Eduino R. Lima and Maria A. (Ferrera) Lima. In 1969 he came to the United States with his family, settling in Lowell. He was educated in Terciera and Lowell.
He resided in Belvidere for many years and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Ivo was employed for the James Munroe Factory in Lancaster, and he also worked as a mover throughout New England for many years. He enjoyed sports, especially playing pool. Ivo was also a member of the Portuguese American Civic League, 'The Reds Club', and a member of the Portuguese American Center, 'The Blues Club'.
In addition to his parents, Eduino and Maria (Ferrera) Lima, Ivo is survived by his son, Brian Lima of Lowell; his granddaughter, Brianna Lima of Manchester, NH; his brother, Eduino Lima of Methuen. He is also survived by his mother in law, Maria Norma Meneses of Lowell; his brothers in law, Flavio Meneses of Lowell and Jorge Meneses and his wife, Maya of Tyngsboro; and his godchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He was also the son in law of the late Desidero N. 'Desi' Meneses.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 10 A.M. UNTIL 12 NOON ON THURSDAY, JUNE 5 AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST.
