Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Brother
LOWELL Isolino M. Picanso, 72, of Lowell, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at his home after a three year battle with cancer with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria F. (Bettencourt) Picanso, with whom he celebrated their Forty Seventh Wedding Anniversary this year.
Born January 12, 1941, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Joao and the late Maria (Melo) Picanco. He grew up and was educated in Graciosa, moving to the United States in 1965, and marrying the love of his live, Maria, in 1966. He finished his service with the Portuguese Army before joining her to raise a family in Lowell.
A communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, he was a former member of the Portuguese American Civic League, the ‘Reds Club’. His hobbies were puzzles, word games, and he especially loved gardening and music. After his retirement from Trull Brook Golf Course where he was a groundskeeper for over thirty years, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida. In 2010 when he was diagnosed with cancer, he moved back to live with his daughter, Goretti in the Centralville section of Lowell.
In addition to his beloved wife, Maria, he is survived by his five daughters, Goretti Vongsiprasom and her husband, Jon, of Lowell, Elizabeth Smith and her husband, Jim, of Nashua, NH, Lisa Barone of Nashua, Brenda Picanso of Lowell, and Melinda Picanso of Lowell; his grandchildren, Ricky, Christine, Erick, Timothy, Megan, Stephanie, Brittany, Haley, Steven, Brandon, Ruben, Devin, and Aliah; his great grandchildren, Jordan, Jaida, Jamison, and Emma; his brothers, Eurico Picanco and his wife, Maria Alice, of Lowell, Valentim Picanco and his wife, Quelminda,of Lowell, Firmilindo Picanco and his wife, Teresa, of Lowell, and Agostino Picanco and his wife, Maria of Lowell; his sister, Maria Bettencourt and her husband Aldino of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also a brother of the late Arcelina Espinola.

HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL, AT 9 A.M.. BURIAL IN LOWELL CEMETERY.
