Isidro Fagundes

"Well known throughout the Portuguese community of Lowell"

LOWELL Isidro Manuel Fagundes, 71, of Lowell, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Lowell General Hospital, after a long illness with his family by his side.

Born January 27, 1940, in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel DaCosta Fagundes and the late Jesuina (Pereira) Fagundes, was educated in Portugal, and came to the United States in 1968, settling in Lowell for most of his life and had also lived in Tyngsboro.

Mr. Fagundes was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, and was a member of the Portuguese American Civic League and the Portuguese American Center. He was one of the founding members of ‘Trindade’, and was also a former Director and member of the Holy Ghost Society.

Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren was his pasttime. He also enjoyed playing cards, but fishing was his passion and he would spend time fishing when ever he could.
He worked as a machinist with Cambridge Tool and Die in Billerica for more than twenty years prior to his retirement.

His survivors include his children, Carlos A. Fagundes and his wife, Dawn, of Lowell, Helen M. Martins and her husband, John, of Lowell, Michael J. Fagundes and his wife, Nisa, of Tyngsboro, David M. Fagundes of Lowell, Jennifer F. Cesar and her husband, Nuno, of Lowell; his sister, Senhorina Cardoso and her husband, Carlos, of Lowell; his ten grandchildren, Jonathan Martins, Alison Crane and her husband, Joshua, Christina Martins, Sarah Fagundes, Allan Fagundes, Sydney Fagundes, Samantha Fagundes, Isabella Cesar, Ava Cesar, and Lucas Cesar; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

FAGUNDES YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 2 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON SUNDAY. ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH AT 10 A.M. BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE PRIVATELY.
