Ida F. (Santarelli) Cassidy
Devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt


LOWELL Ida F. (Santarelli) Cassidy, 85, of Lowell, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Fairhaven Healthcare Center. For 53 years she was the wife of Marnell C. Cassidy, a 31 year Navy veteran, who passed away in 2007.
Born December 29, 1928, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Luigi Santarelli and the late Francesca (Belli) Santarelli, and attended the local schools.
She was a lifelong Lowell resident and a member of the former St. Peter's Church, the former Sacred Heart Church, and currently a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Chelmsford. Ida was employed as a stitcher for Nu-Knit for many years before her retirement. She also worked at Jet Containers for a few years. She was an avid animal lover, and was especially fond of her Shep and Misty. Above all, she enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, Mark and Christine. Her love for her grandchildren was unsurpassed.
Ida is survived by a daughter, Louise F. Russo and her husband, Mark of Methuen; two beloved grandchildren, Mark A. Russo and Christine N. Russo both of Methuen; a brother, Edward Santarelli and his wife, Mary of Michigan; and a sister in law, Nancy Santarelli of Dracut. She is also survived by a niece, Louise Podanoffsky and her husband, Mike of York Beach, Maine; two nephews, John Drauchen and his wife, Karen of Hudson, NH, and Roy Santarelli Jr. of Boston; a great niece, Amy King and her husband, Bill of Hudson, NH; a great nephew, James Podanoffsky and his wife, Meagan of New York
She was also the sister of the late Palmena Drauchen, Roy Santarelli, Charles Santarelli,
Her daughter, Louise, would like to thank the entire staff at Fairhaven Healthcare Center, especially the staff of the Pawtucketville Section for the compassionate care Ida received during her stay.

You are invited to her calling hours from 2 until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25. On Wednesday, her Funeral will begin at 8 a.m. at the McDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978- 458-6816. Her Funeral Mass will be offered at ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST PARISH, 115 Middlesex Street, North Chelmsford, at 9 a.m.. Burial will privately take place at Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA. Memorials in her name may be made to MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
