Honorato Cardoso da Silva

LOWELL Honorato Cardoso da Silva, 77, of Lowell, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, after a long illness with his family at his side. He was the widower of the late Maria Lucinda Silva who died in 2000.

A son of the late Jose and the late Amelia (Bettencourt) Silva, he was born May 25, 1935, in Sao Jorge, Azores, Portugal, was educated in that area. In Portugal, he tended his farm and also worked as a shoemaker. He served in the Military in Portugal, and moved with his family to the United States in 1977, settling in Lowell.

Mr. Silva was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, and enjoyed fishing, soccer, and was a supporter of Benfica. He worked as a circuit board plater for various companies in the area for over eighteen years before retiring.

He is survived by his children, Filomena Gomez and her husband, Jorge, of Litchfield, NH, Jose Silva and his wife, Maria, of Lowell, Honorato Manuel Silva and his wife, Kathy, of Lowell, Maria Silva and Larry Hester of Lowell, and Laurentina de Melo of Lawrence; his grandchildren, Denise, Sonia, Jose Jr., Samantha, Aaron, Alexandre, Travis, and Sarah; his great granddaughter, his pride and joy, Lucinda; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Jose Fernando Cardoso.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON MONDAY, FEB. 4. ON TUESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
