LOWELL Francis W. ‘Frank’ Hogan, 89, a lifelong Lowell resident and retired Lowell Fire Department Lieutenant, died Saturday, Feb 2, at his home after a brief illness. He was the widower of the late Rita L. (Tanguay) Hogan who died in 2002.
A son of the late Thomas and the late Mary (Silva) Hogan, he was born Feb. 7, 1918, in Lowell, and educated in the local schools, graduating from Keith Academy.
Mr. Hogan served with the Lowell Fire Department, first with Ladder #3 at the Central Fire Station for a majority of his career, and then was promoted to Lieutenant serving at Engine #1 on Gorham Street, retiring after 34 years of service. He then worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover for ten years and was also a member of the Lowell Marksman’s Club.
He is survived by three sons, Francis W. Hogan and his wife, Beatrice, of Westford, Gerald F. Hogan and his wife, Muriel, of Hudson, NH, and Thomas W. Hogan and his wife, Dorothea, of Wakefield; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the grandfather of the late Gerald Hogan Jr.
