Hilda G. (Sousa) Harris
LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, AND GREAT GRANDMOTHER

LOWELL Hilda G. (Sousa) Harris, 93, of Lowell, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, September 9, at D’Youville Senior Care. She was the widow of James R. Harris who passed away in 1995.

She was born on September 2, 1924, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Antonio F. Sousa, and Maria O. (Alves-Pacheco) Sousa. She grew up in the Back Central neighborhood, attended the local schools, and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1942.
Hilda resided in Lowell for all of her life, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. She was employed in manufacturing for Honeywell for 27 years before her retirement in 1986. Sewing and crocheting were amongst her favorite ways to spend time, but most important to her was her family, and she never missed an opportunity to babysit her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her three daughters, Linda J. Fadden of Lowell, Brenda and her husband Manuel Mello of Lowell, and Maureen and her husband Danny Curry, of Bonifay, FL; her brother, John P. Sousa of Cape Coral, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Shannon Boucher and her husband, David, of Laconia, NH, Susan Hudon and her husband, Michael, of Dracut, Kerrianne Mello and her husband, Michael Medina of Lowell, Bruce Taylor and his wife, Ashley Potter, of Florida, Brian Taylor of Florida, she is also survived by her great grandchildren, Alexander Boucher, Kevin Hudon, Jennifer Hudon, Bailee Taylor, Jasper Taylor, Zachary, Marcus and Aurora Medina and her 2 great great grandchildren, Kevin Jr. and Sophia Hudon, also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was the sister of the late George M. Sousa, Mary Chisholm, and the grandmother of the late Sean Fadden.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON FRIDAY. ON SATURDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY. MEMORIALS IN HER NAME TO THE ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION OF MASSACHUSETTS, 309 WAVERLY OAKS ROAD, WALTHAM, MA 02452.
