Beloved Father and Brother
LOWELL Harry Hughes, 81, of Lowell, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Heritage Nursing Care Center in Lowell. He was the husband of the late Shirley Ann (Zinck) Hughes who passed away June 19, 2008.
Born August 10, 1932 in Billerica, he was a son of the late Harry Hughes Sr. and the late Joan (Scott) Hughes. He attended the local schools.
Harry loved horses, and comes from a family of jockeys. In his younger days he was a horse trainer. He was an avid Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and New England Patriots fan. Harry was employed as a cemetery worker for the Lowell Cemetery Department for many years. He also previously worked for Comfort Bedding and Gray Furniture.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Stinson and her husband, Chris of Lowell; a sister, Marion Parrington of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Thomas Hughes, Beatrice Moulton, Edna Rogers, Wilfred Hughes, and Eva Kinney.
Harry's family would like to thank the staff at Hertiage Nursing Care Center for their compassionate care that he received over the years.
