Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Theresa (Jones) Laviolette
LOWELL Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Theresa (Jones) Laviolette, 77, of Lowell, passed away after a long illness, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She was the beloved wife of Robert Laviolette with whom she shared the last 58 years of marriage.
She was born in Waltham on October 16, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Edward T. Jones and the late Jenny (O’Leary) Jones. Gerry was raised in Waltham where she attended the area schools, graduating from St. Charles High School with the class of 1958.
In 1970, Gerry moved to Lowell with her husband, Robert to raise their family. She resided in the Belvidere neighborhood of Lowell and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. Since moving to Lowell, Gerry worked at Saint John's Hospital and surrounding area nursing homes in food service.
She enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending time at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. She loved music, especially country and western music; she had a beautiful voice and sang for many years in the Immaculate Conception Church Folk Group. Gerry loved the ocean, especially Revere Beach. She was an animal lover and her pet cats were very dear to her heart. Although Gerry had many passions throughout her life, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, brought her the most happiness.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by her five children, Lorna T. Mendonça and her husband, Joe of Lowell, Denise M. Boulanger and her companion, Billy Bergin of Dover, NH, Michelle R. Currier and her husband, Edward of Las Vegas, Noreen L. Guregian and her husband, John of Haverhill, and Robert E. Laviolette and his wife, Christine of Haverhill; seven grandchildren, Matthew Boulanger, Lena Ferreira and her husband, Adam, Jeremy Mendonça, Michael and Ian Boulanger, and Emma and Zachary Laviolette. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Marc, Carina ‘Cha-Cha’, Tyler and Tyde.
Gerry was predeceased by her siblings, the late Edward Jones, the late Madeline Morlock, the late Margaret Doherty, and the late Dorothea Chandonnet.
