George William “Roadrunner” Wood
LOWELL George William “Roadrunner” Wood, 69, of Lowell, died after a 3 year fight with cancer, Friday, June 19, 2009 at Willow Manor Nursing Home. He was the widower of Rita (Goulin) Wood, who passed away in 1988.
Born May 14, 1940, in Lowell, he was a son of the late Robert J. Wood, and the late Leona (LaCourse) Wood, he attended the local schools.
He was employed as a cab driver for Yellow Cab for 40 years. It was his wish that his fellow cabbies “beep beep” for Roadrunner in his memory.
He retired in (what year) and enjoyed spending time with his daughter Lisa Wood, her family, and his dog “Oreo”.
He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Wood and her companion, Randal Lamarche of Lowell, a son, George W. Wood Jr of Lowell, a brother, Sonny LaCourse of Lowell, many friends including Toby Cassin, who was like a son to him and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Denise Wood, brother of the late Robert J. Wood Sr., the late Judith Riley and the late William Wood.

HIS FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 6 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
