Timothy Harvey George
Local Funeral Director
LOWELL Timothy Harvey George, 68, of the Wigginsville Section of the City, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Lowell General Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Pauline M. (Mason) George.
A son of the late Christos and the late Edith R. (Jelley) George, he was born November 20, 1939, in Boston. He was educated in the local schools, attending the Riverside Grammar School, and graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1959. During High School, he played in the Brass Band, and was a member of the special choir and the acapela choir, and he was a soloist during his graduation ceremony, singing ‘Just For Today’. Timothy served with the United States Navy before continuing his education at the New England Institute at Kenmore Square, attaining his Funeral Director’s License and Embalmers License.
Since 1964, Timothy worked at the McDonough Funeral Home retiring in 2000 due to illness.
Mr. George was proud of his affiliations with various fraternal organizations, including the Ancient York Lodge A.F.& A.M., where he was a Past Master, the Pentucket Lodge A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Lowell Consistory in Boston, York Rites Bodies of Lowell and Pilgrim Commandery, #9 Knights Templar, the Aleppo Temple Shrine AAnoms, the Aleppo Temple Brass Band and the Swing Band as a trombonist, and the Lowell Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E. #87, just to name a few. Timmy was dedicated to serving in various capacities with his many affiliations throughout the years, and enjoyed playing his trombone with the Bands marching in many area parades for Holidays and special occassions. When he was unable to march, he could be seen riding the floats or band trucks, never missing an opportunity to entertain.
In addition to his devoted wife Pauline, he is survived by her son, Richard Mason and his wife, Carol, of Lowell; grandchildren, Richard A. Mason and his wife, Sharon, of Franklin, William A. Mason and Susan Waldron of Derry, NH, Thomas A. Mason and his wife, Lisa, of Chelmsford, Michelle Bouvier and her husband, Matthew, of Manchester, NH, Daniel Mason and his wife, Shara, of Siloam Springs, AK, David Mason and his wife, Amanda, of Billerica, and Aaron Mason and Shannon Nicholson of Billerica; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
