George P. Mercier
LOWELL George P. Mercier, 72, of Lowell, died unexpectedly at home, Wednesday, January 28, 2009. He was the widower of the late Maria (Drolet) Mercier.
A son of the late Romeo and the late Esther (Burpee) Mercier, he was born December 30, 1936, in Goffstown, New Hampshire, and educated in the Manchester, New Hampshire school system.
He made his home in Lowell on Fenwick Terrace for more than thirty years before residing on Merrimack Street, and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church where he actively volunteered as needed. George was a collector of rare finds, and loved flea markets. He was known for his sense of humor, his friendly smile and boisterous voice, as well as his support of politics throughout the area. He was also a member of the East End Club and a great supporter of the military.
He is survived by a sister, Annette Warren and her husband, James, of Danielson, Connecticut; his sister in law, Rita Mercier of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Richard N. Mercier, the late Phyllis Dubey, the late Martha Baranowski, and the late Ralph P. Mercier.
