Genuino Manuel Mendonca
LOWELL Genuino Manuel ‘Gen’ Mendonca, 60, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017,after a long illness in the comfort of his home, with his loving family at his side.
A son of the late Deocleciano C. Mendonca and the late Guadalupe V. (Mendonca) Mendonca, he was born March 3, 1957, in Graciosa, Azores, and was raised and educated in Graciosa. In 1967, as a young boy, he moved to the United States, settling in Lowell’s Back Central Street neighborhood, and continued his education in the Lowell Schools.
Gen was the owner and operator of Gen Mendonca Home Improvements and worked in home improvements his whole lifetime. Even up to his last days, when illness forced his retirement, he continued to work as much as he could.
He was the center of his loving family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid car collector and restorer. For many years, he enjoyed raising livestock on his farm in Dracut, and had a lifelong passion for animals of all shapes and sizes. He was a former President of the Portuguese American Civic League, and a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church. He was a supportive member of the Holy Ghost Society of Lowell.
His survivors include his children, Kelly L. Parreira of Lowell, Genuino M. Mendonca Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Lowell, Megan L. Richard and her husband, Eric, of Exeter, NH, and Joshua M. Mendonca and his fiance, Jade Souza, of Fall River; his grandson, Logan John Parreira of Lowell and Logan’s father, Genuino's former son in law, Randy S. Parreira of Lawrence along with his additional grandchildren, Abigail Rose Mendonca of Lowell, Amaya Rose Mendonca and Aubree Lynn Mendonca both of Fall River; his sister, Maria Fatima Silva and her husband, Albino Silva, of Lowell; his aunts, Lourdes Lobao and Herondina Silva both of Lowell, his Godchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by Danjha Abreu of Lowell.
The Mendonca family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Catherine Elie, N.P. with Primary Care of The Andovers for her unwavering support and love throughout his long illness and would also like to thank all family and friends for their love and support.

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING HIS CALLING HOURS, ON FRIDAY, HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL AT 5 P.M..
BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE IN HIS HOME LAND OF GRACIOSA WITH HIS PARENTS.
