Gary A. Chamberlain
"Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather"
LOWELL Gary A. Chamberlain, 63, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Friday, September 18, 2009, with his family at his side. He shared over forty years of marriage with his wife, Joanne (Craig) Chamberlain.
A son of the late John and the late Marion (Crowell) Valkavitch, he was born August 21, 1946, in Lowell and educated in the local schools.
He made his home in the Highlands Section of the City for most of his life, and worked for Corenco Rendering before becoming employed with Market Basket at their Tewksbury Warehouse for over fifteen years.
When Gary wasn’t salt water fishing or fresh water fishing, you could find him watching football. He loved spending time with his family, and especially loved his grandchildren, helping to raise them with love and affection as he did his own children. In addition, to his family, their was a special spot in Gary’s heart for his dogs, Luke, Rocky and Chewy.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, he is survived by four children, Kerry Chamberlain of Lowell, Corey P. Chamberlain of Lowell, Karen Melillo of Providence, Rhode Island, and Shawn Craig Sr., and his longtime partner, Tracy Cormier, of Lowell; two grandchildren, Shawn Craig Jr., and Brady Craig both of Lowell; a sister, Rita Husselbee and her husband, William, of Lowell; a brother, Leslie ‘Skip’ Chamberlain and his wife, Mabel, of Ashby; his longtime friends, Kenneth Garside of Cape Coral, Florida, and Scott Burnett of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Stanley, John and Joseph Valkavitch, and his sister, Mary Johnson.

ON TUESDAY, HIS FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 10 A.M. AT THE FUNERAL HOME. BURIAL IN ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY.
