Frank ‘Hank’ Nyder

DRACUT Frank ‘Hank’ Nyder, 89, of Dracut, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Palm Manor Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Barbara (Sullivan) Nyder, with whom he would have celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary this coming May.

He was born in Westford on September 17, 1920, a son of the late Eufstafy ‘Astop’ and the late Eudokia ‘Adella’ (Krewicz) Nyder. He grew up and received his education in The Graniteville section of Westford.
Frank and Barbara were married in May of 1952. He lived in Lowell for most of his lifetime, before making his home in Dracut, for the past 13 years.

He worked for Raytheon in Andover and then for AVCO for a short time before working as a custodian at the Robinson and Morey Schools for the City of Lowell for over twenty years before before his retirement in 1985. He had also worked part time as a cab driver for A & L Taxi for more than thirty years.
Frank was an avid fan of The Boston Red Sox but his favorite pasttime was horse racing, especially at Rockingham Park. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, gathering for family meals, especially during the holidays.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his children, Barbara Nyder and her partner, Tony Desrosiers, of Lowell, Sharon Nyder and her husband, Mark Groswald, of Dracut, and Michael Nyder of Lowell; his nine grandchildren, Kerry, Kristin, Michael Jr., Rebecca, Sarah, Kendra, Joseph, Michael, and Justine; his twenty great grand children, Courtney, Brianna, Lydia, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Alexandra, Lauryn, Jordan, Savannah, Dylan, Morgan, Christopher, Rosalee, Kyle, Mia, Sarina, Sophia, Jaylene, Michael and Tamera; a brother, Walter ‘Chippy’ Nyder of Westford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the father of the late Tracy E. Kilmartin who died in 2005, and brother of the late Vera Burleson and the late Peter Nyder.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 2 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON SUNDAY, APRIL 11. ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
