Francisco G. Conceicao

St. Anthony’s Parish Custodian for 30 Years

LOWELL     Francisco G. Conceicao, 93, of Lowell, passed away, Tuesday morning, at his home in Lowell with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Ricardina (Jesus) Conceicao with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage this past May.

     A son of the late Jose and the late Maria Pereira, he was born in Pico, Azores, and was raised and educated in that area. He operated a tavern and store and also worked as farmer in Faial, Azores. During this time he also served his Country in the Portuguese military. He came to the United States in 1959 with his pregnant wife and his son, settling in Lowell.

     He made his home in the Back Central Street neighborhood and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the Holy Ghost Society, the Portuguese American Civic League, and the Portuguese American Center. His favorite past time was spending time with his family, telling stories, watching soccer, camping and fishing. 

     Mr. Conceicao worked at St. Anthony’s Parish for 30 years and at Interstate Container for 18 years before his retirement.

     In addition to his beloved wife, Ricardina, he is survived by his children, Frank Conceicao and his wife, Audrey, of Windham, NH, Joseph Conceicao and his wife, Marion, of Nashua, NH, Maria (Mary) Cordeiro and her husband, Gabriel, of Lowell and Tony Conceicao and his wife, Sidonia, of Dracut.

His twelve grandchildren, Eric Conceicao, Adam Conceicao, Jessica Cordeiro, Steven Cordeiro, Ryan Conceicao, Olivia Conceicao, Brandon Conceicao, Alexandra Conceicao, Natalia Conceicao, Daniel Conceicao, Sarah Conceicao, and Alexa Conceicao; two great granddaughters, Ava and Lea Conceicao,  and several nieces and nephews.

    He was also a brother of the late Jose Pereira, the late Manuel Pereira, the late Guilherme Pereira and the late Maria Adelaide Garcia.

           YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON THURSDAY, DEC. 14.

ON FRIDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. 

HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED FRIDAY AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., AT 10 A.M..  BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
