Loving Mother and Grandmother
DRACUT Francelina A. (Leal) Santos, 85, of Dracut, formerly of Lowell, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Lowell General Hospital after a very lengthy illness. She was the widow of the late Augusto Santos who passed away in 1988 after Thirty Eight years of Marriage.
Born January 14, 1927, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Jose and the late Aurora (Machado) Leal, and was educated in Portugal.
She came to the United States in 1962 with her family, settling in Lowell for many years before making her home in Dracut. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, and the Holy Rosary Sodality, as well as a member of the Holy Ghost Society.
Francelina loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, and also spent time at the Portuguese Senior Center. She enjoyed reading and quilting.
She is survived by her children, Gabriel A. Santos of Lowell, Filomena V. Mello and her husband, John, of Dracut, and Aldevino M. Santos of England; her ten grandchildren, Gabriel’s children, Janene, Mark, Darlene, David, and Melissa, Filomena’s children, John, Jason, and Stephanie, and Aldevino’s children, Amanda and Andre; her brother, Jose Leal and his wife, Guadalupe, of Graciosa, her sister, Bernardete Cunha and her husband, Manuel, of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Lino Leal, Manuel Leal, Artur Leal, and Raul Leal.
