Florence E. McKeon

DRACUT Florence E. (Billingsley) McKeon, 88, of Dracut, formerly of Lowell, died peacefully, Thursday, November 12, 2009, at D’Youville Senior Care. She was the widow of the late James R. McKeon.

A daughter of the late George and the late Edith (Exley) Billingsley, she was born September 14, 1921, in Lowell, and educated in the local schools graduating from Lowell High School.

Mrs. McKeon made her home in home in Lowell until the 1980’s when she moved to Dracut, and was a member of the former St. Theresa’s Parish, and a communicant of St. Francis Church. She had worked as an inspector for Joan Fabrics for over thirty years until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Lowell Senior Citizen Center as well as the Dracut Senior Citizen Center, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at family gatherings. Her hobbies included going for walks, crotcheting and sewing, and she especially enjoyed making photo albums for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family is most grateful to the staff at D’Youville Senior Care Center and the Lowell VNA Hospice, for the care and kindness Florence received from everyone she came in contact during the last months of her life.

She is survived by five children, Barbara Burgess and her husband, Richard, of Dracut, Maureen McKeon of San Francisco, CA, Martha Steinke and her husband, Sidney, of Cincinnatti, OH, James McKeon and his wife, Donna, of Tewksbury, and Kevin McKeon and his wife, Michelle, of Dracut; fourteen grandchildren, Sean Burgess, Christopher Burgess, Jessica Smith, Kristy Roshia, Kerry McKeon, James McKeon III, Nicholas McKeon, Bryan McKeon, Michael McKeon, Sarah Steinke, Grace Bosworth, Leah Evans, David Steinke, and Mary McMahon ; nine great grandchildren, Julia, Smith, Norah Smith, and Evelyn Smith, Teagan Burgess and Logan Burgess, Nathan McKeon, Aaron Roshia, Kelsey Carraba, and Tyler Evans; a sister, Dorothy Johnson of New Bedford; a brother, Herbert Billingsley of Derry, NH; a sister in law, Rita Lemire of Lowell; a brother in law, Thomas Salem of Dracut; many nieces and nephews and many friends including her dear friend, Gabriel Falcon of Dracut and Lillian Hebert of Lowell and Irene Nicolls of Dracut.

She was also the sister of the late Donald Billingsley and the late Kenneth Billingsley.
