Fernando P. Silva
LOWELL Fernando P. Silva, 61, of Lowell, died after a courageous battle with lung cancer with his family by his side, on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Durvalina (Silva) Silva, with whom he celebrated his 41st wedding anniversary last December.
Born November 14, 1953, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel, and the late Maria (Conceicao) Silva. He spent his childhood in Graciosa, and came to the United States as a teenager in 1966, settling in Lowell with his family.
Mr. Silva lived in the Back Central Neighborhood, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Society, The Portuguese American Civic League and the Portuguese American Center. He enjoyed spending time fishing, taking trips to the ocean, and he was a supporter of S.L. Benfica and enjoyed watching soccer. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Durvalina, he is survived by his three children, Ann Marie Silva, of Lowell, Michael F. Silva and his wife Mary, of Lowell, and Melissa L. Khlok, and her husband Soksan, of Lowell; his brother Walter P. Silva and his girlfriend Grace of Lowell; his sister Eldemira Durden and her husband Brian of Lowell; and his sister in law Arcelinda Silva of Dracut; Seven grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, and Aaliyah Khlok, Chelsea Sanchez, Micah Ramos, Julia and Joshua Silva, and he was looking forward to his 8th grandchild who is due in August. He is also survived by his God children, Linda, Lisa and Sasha, as well as many sisters in law, brothers in law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Florentino Silva and the late Elisiario Silva.
