F. Bertelle Siopes

LOWELL F. Bertelle (Tibbetts) Siopes, 94, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford with her beloved family by her side. She was the widow of the late Demitrios Siopes who passed away in 1975.
A daughter of the late Daniel and the late Alice (Morehouse) Tibbetts, she was born September 27, 1917 in Boston. She was educated in the Boston School system and graduated from Boston Clerical School.
She worked at Fort Banks in Winthrop, where she met and married her late husband, Demitrios. She retired after 25 years of service as the Director of Outpatient Admissions at St. John's Hospital in Lowell.
Mrs. Siopes made her home in the Highlands Section of Lowell since 1960 and was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. She often traveled throughout the country to visit them. She had a deep appreciation for music, singing, dancing and language., which she proudly passed on to her family.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas F. Siopes of Boxford, Paul J. Siopes and his wife, Jeanne, of Tyngsboro, Demetra M. Phair and her husband, Charles, of Chelmsford, Bertelle Copley and her husband, Robert, of Williamsburg, VA, William X. Siopes and his wife, Susan, of Tyngsboro, Keith Siopes and his wife, Florence, of Novi, MI, and Kim Pekkala and her husband, Richard, of Austin, TX; twenty five grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; her sisters, Pauline Alexander of Quincy and Patricia Duest of Hanover; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, James D. Siopes, her grandson, Thomas D. Siopes, and her brothers Daniel and Kenneth Tibbetts.
