Esther A. Crowley
LOWELL Esther A. (Roddy) Crowley, 89, of Lowell, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at her home after a long illness. She was the widow of the late John F. Crowley.
A daughter of the late Michael F. and the late Esther A. (Carter) Roddy, she was born August 28, 1921 in Lowell, and educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1939, and from Lowell Commercial College in 1941.
She made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality and the League of Catholic Women. She worked at the former Robert Leonard Dress Company and then worked for Raytheon in Lowell as an assembler for most of her working career. She was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Egypt, Greece, and Ireland, and also enjoyed vacationing in Wells Maine and wintering in Naples, Florida. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, golf, playing cards, cribbage, and forty fives, and crocheting and making clothes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, John F. Crowley and his wife, Jean, of Lowell, Debra A. LeBlanc and her husband, Timothy, of Nashua, NH, Kevin D. Crowley and his wife, Laurie, of Lawrence, Brenda M. Crowley of Lowell, and Stephen P. Crowley and his wife, Lisa, of North Andover; ten grandchildren John, Kerry, T. J., Jennifer, Matthew, Kayla, Stephen, Krysteena, Andrue, Aly; four great grandchildren twins Maddison and Mackenzie and twins Olivia and Evan; her siblings, Mary J. Roddy of Chelmsford, June R. Connors of Chelmsford, Raymond F. Roddy and his wife, Lillian, of Bethesda, MD, Brenda C. Roddy of Chelmford, and John T. Roddy and his wife, Joanne, of Chelmsford; her best friend, Anna Blanchard of Lowell; a dear daughter in law, Ginny Crowley of Lowell, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Kathleen A. Crowley who died November of 2002, and sister of the late Madeline P. Roddy and the late Eileen R. Pelton.
