Emilia H. Ramalho
LOWELL Emilia H. (Adamowski) Ramalho, 95, of Lowell, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Saints Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late John Ramalho who died in 2004.
Born December 23, 1915, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late John and the late Honorata (Kurowski) Adamowski, and was educated in the local schools. She then took language courses so she could speak the language of the places where she traveled.
Mrs. Ramalho made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a communicant of Holy Trinity Polish Church and was a member of the Polish American Veterans’ Auxillary, Our Lady of Czenstochowa Sodality, and the Disabled American Veterans Association. She was also a member of the Lowell Senior Citizens and the Chelmsford Senior Citizens. She also loved football and baseball, bingo, ballroom dancing, traveling, especially wintering in Puerto Rico, and her trips to Europe and South America.
She made her home on Pine Street in Lowell, and had worked for New Market Manufacturing and Hathaway Shirts before her retirement.
She is survived by her son, John A. Ramalho and his wife, Ronna, of Chelmsford; a grandson, Jayson A. Ramalho of Chelmsford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Adam Adamowski and the late Josephine Lebourdais.
