Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Sullivan

LOWELL Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Barsorian) Sullivan, 89, of Lowell, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Saints Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late John J. Sullivan who passed away in December of 1991.

A daughter of the late John and the late Sarah (Echmalian) Barsorian, she was born January 3, 1921, in Lowell. She was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High Trade School. She was a seamstress and was involved in tailoring. She was employed by her brother at the Barcy Shoe Company in Lowell. Later she moved to the Washington D.C. area, where she married her late husband, John. While in Washington D.C., she worked for the National Wildlife Federation. She had also lived in Germany for a short time.

Betty was a devoted wife and loved her family. She particullary enjoyed her nieces and nephews, and treated her nieces Barbara and Nancy like they were daughters.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Weems and her husband, Berlin, of Lowell; her many nieces and nephews including Barbara Nealon and her husband, Robert, of Lowell and Nancy Humphrey and her husband, Randall, of Lowell; her grand nieces and grand nephews including Jennifer Nealon-Heibel, Jessica Humphrey, and Robert Nealon. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Pepper.
She was a sister of the late Bill Barsorian, the late Menas Barsorian, the late Ora Hampson, and the late Arakel Barsorian.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 10 UNTIL 12 NOON ON THURSDAY, APRIL 29, AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL TAKE PLACE AT 12 NOON AT THE FUNERAL HOME ON THURSDAY. ON SATURDAY, MAY 1, BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE IN GEORGE WASHINGTON CEMETERY, 9500 RIGGS RD, ADELPHI, MD IN THE FAMILY LOT.
