Elias R. Silva
LOWELL Elias R. Silva, 78, beloved husband of Cidalia A. Silva for 52 years before he passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House of Haverhill after a long illness.
A son of the late Antonio and the late Guilhermina (Reis) da Cunha da Silva, he was born October 19, 1935, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, and raised and educated in that area.
In 1974, he moved to the United States with his family, settling in Lowell. Elias loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren, and also enjoyed gardening, especially his grape vines, was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Silva worked as a groundskeeper for the Lowell Cemetery until his retirement.
In addition to his loving wife, Cidalia, he is survived by his children, Elio Silva of Lowell, Maria Abston of Dracut, and Alzira Picardi and her husband, Marc of Lowell; his granddaughters, Olivia Picardi and Sophia Picardi of Lowell; his sister, Delores Lima and her husband, Manuel of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews throughout the United States, Canada and Portugal.
He was also a brother of the late Moises Silva, the late Manuel Silva, and the late Lucia Reis Silva.
