Elaine Laura Malonson
June 20, 1942 – April 2, 2015

Fuquay-Varina, NC Elaine Laura Malonson, age 72, passed away on Thursday, at UNC Hospital Chapel Hill after a brief illness.

She was born in Lowell, MA and was the daughter of the late William J. and Beatrice A. (Duprez) McKenna. Elaine received her early education at St. Margaret Elementary School and on to Keith Hall.

She lived in Lowell most of her life before moving to Hudson, NH in 2003. Prior to her retirement from Wang Laboratories as an executive secretary, she worked for Raytheon. She also worked in the Pelham School System.

She enjoyed trips to Foxwoods with her friends and playing cribbage. In 2013, Elaine moved to live with her daughter and family in NC. There she made many new friends and enjoyed playing cards each week at the Community Center. Elaine received an award in September 2014 for being a 60 year diabetes survivor.

She was predeceased by her son, Scott M. Malonson and her former spouse, George M. Malonson.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Cindy Ulrich and husband, Thomas of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and five grandchildren, Katelyn Christopher and husband, Keith McCrossin, Ryan Christopher, Leah Ulrich, Lauren Ulrich, and Shayla Millette. She leaves behind a dear cousin, Joanne Jolin; several nieces and nephews, and many longtime friends.


YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON TUESDAY, APRIL 7. ON WEDNESDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816. HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MARGARET PARISH, 374 STEVENS STREET, LOWELL AT 10:30 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION, www.jdrf.org
