Edward A. Mason
BILLERICA Edward A. Mason, 85, of Billerica, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness. He was the widower of Priscilla M. (Wetherbee) Mason.
A son of Fred and Jennie (Anderson) Mason, he was born June 18, 1928, in Lowell. At the age of eight, he relocated to Waltham where he was educated. At the age of twenty, he enlisted to serve with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
After his honorable discharge, he settled in Abbington and continued working for Iron Workers Local 7, retiring in 1993. Edward continued as a self employed welder in the Lowell area following his retirement.
Mr. Mason was a member of the Assemblies of God Church of Burlington. He was also an associate Pastor at Sudbury Methodist Church from 1960 to 1972, and Wesley United Methodist Church from 1972 to 1974. He then returned to his iron working career.
He's survived by his children Edward Charles Mason and his wife Carol of Townsend and Valerie Vigeant and her husband Adam of Salem NH; his brother Robert Mason and his wife Ruth of Canton; his sister Pauline George of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Fred Mason, Albert Mason, Dorothy Pergola, and Helen Halloran.
