EDMUND T. "SONNY" GRAHAM

Edmund T. “Sonny” Graham, 85, of Lowell, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Saints Medical Center. He was the widower of the late Florence M. (Arthur) Graham who passed away in 1996 after 47 years of marriage.

Born February 12, 1925 and raised in Lowell, he was a son of the late Edmund T. and the late Anne M. (Matthews) Graham. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving aboard the minesweeper USS YMS-158 during WWII as a Signalman, 3rd Class, until 1945. Shortly after returning home from his military service he married Florence and they began a family together. He worked at Hathaway Shirt, and later for the Lowell Water Works until his retirement.

Sonny enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and 45’s. He also was an avid reader of detective magazines and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Sharon L. O’Brien of Lowell, Gail F. Sevigny and her husband Bernard of Hudson NH, Debbie J. Gordon of Lowell, a son Edmund Graham and his wife Melissa of Tyngsboro; 5 grandchildren, Todd Sevigny and his wife Michelle of Pelham NH, Renae Sevigny and Jeff Knobel of Hudson NH; Kyle R. Gordon and his wife Michelle of Ayer and Cody & Connor Graham both of Tyngsboro; 4 great grandchildren, Jake & Brett Sevigny, Sy Knobel and Aidan Gordon; and many nieces and nephews; a sister Rose Michaels of Natick; two sisters in law Barbara Graham of Lowell and Yvette Graham of Merrimack NH.

He was also the brother of the late Anne Marie McGadden, John Graham, Robert Graham, Richard Graham, Francis Graham, Kenny Graham. He was the father in law of the late Michael O'Brien, and Daniel McCarthy.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 26. ON THURSDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
