Dorothy M. ‘Mimi’ McGrath
LOWELL Dorothy M. ‘Mimi’ (Bell) McGrath, 95, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 28, 2018, with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved widow of the late Henry McGrath who died February 22, 2004.
A daughter of the late Herbert and the late Catherine A. (Ross) Bell, she was born January 19, 1923, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools. In the 1940’s during World War II, she worked making parachutes for the Military. Then, for many years, she worked as a seamstress for the Lowell Dress Company.
Mimi loved life and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, and her precious great great grandson. She also loved a good Bingo game and cherished time spent with family in North Hampton.
Her survivors include her daughter, Catherine Ann Doyle of Dracut; her grand daughters, Beth Ellen Reid and her husband, Stephen, of Ayer, and Stacey Geary and her husband, Stephan, of Lowell; her great grandchildren, Michael Robert Reid, Craig Patrick Reid, Catherine Ann Cassidy and her husband, Patrick, Jonathan Daniel Geary, and Matthew Stephen Geary; her great great grandson, James Joseph Cassidy; her sister, Ellen Skovholt and her husband, Richard, of Ormand Beach, FL; as well as her many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her four sisters, Mary Ellen Knox, Elizabeth Rousseau, Lila Wayland, and Catherine Convery, and her three brothers, Herbet Bell, Frederick Bell, and Robert Bell.
HER FUNERAL WAS HELD PRIVATELY FROM THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. BURIAL IN WESTLAWN II CEMETERY.
