Dorothy A. Magin


LOWELL Dorothy A. Magin, 93, of Lowell, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016, at Palm Center after a brief illness.


Born May 25, 1923, in Danvers, she was a daughter of the late Jacob F. and the late Margaret (Tansey) Magin, and because of the death of her mother in childbirth, she was raised in Lowell by her aunt and uncle, Alice and John Graves, and was educated in the local schools.


A devout catholic, she was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret Church. More recently, she had attended St. Michael’s Church, and was involved with Catholic Charities.


She had worked as a Clerk Typist for many years with the United States Veterans Administration until her retirement in 1982.


She is survived by a sister Margaret M. Shay of Millbrab, CA; her sisters in law, Dorothy D. Magin of Albany, NY and Sylvia Magin of Rensselaer, NY; and many nieces and nephews, including Peggy Magin of Weymouth, as well as several grand nieces and grand nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, the late William J. Magin, and the late Frederick Magin.


On her behalf her family would like to thank her Postman as well as all of her neighbors, especially her good friend Bob Frost, for helping her stay at home as long as possible.


YOU ARE INVITED TO HER VISITATION 8 UNTIL 9 A.M. THURSDAY MORNING AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND ST., LOWELL 978-458-6816.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT 10 A.M. AT ST. MARGARET CHURCH, 374 STEVENS ST., LOWELL. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
