Doris M. McKenzie

Former Mill Girl

LOWELL Doris M. (Weed) McKenzie, 92, of Lowell, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Genesis Westford House after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late John McKenzie.
A daughter of the late Joseph and the late Mary (Letendre) Weed, she was born June 16, 1923, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools.

Doris worked in the local Mills and then worked in the Kitchen at Lowell General Hospital after her husband passed away, and retired from there. She also enjoyed traveling to Old Orchard Beach with her family, spending time at the Lowell Senior Center, and playing Bingo, and taking walks through the City. In her younger days, she was a communicant of the former St. Patrick's Church, and more recently attended Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Shrine.

She is survived by her sisters Mary E. Jacobs of Lowell, and Cecile Weed of Dracut; and many close nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, Russel, Brian, Linda, Donna, Joyce, Ronald, Robert, David, and Cheryl; and many grand nieces and grand nephews.

She was also a sister of the late Gerard Weed, the late Arthur Weed, the late Leon Weed, and the late Euguene ’Tex’ Weed.
The family would like to thank the Staff at Westford House for the kind and compassionate care bestowed upon Doris during her stay there.
