Doris DePrenda

Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother

LOWELL Doris (Capotosto) DePrenda, 88, of Lowell passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 after a brief illness at her home with her family by her side. She was the widow of the late Vito J. DePrenda, who passed away in 1992.

Born January 31, 1923, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Louis, and the late Louise (Andreoli) Capotosto. She attended the local schools, and graduated from Lowell High School.

Mrs. DePrenda was a lifelong Lowell resident and has lived in the highlands since 1972. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, and a longtime communicant of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church. She was a former member of the Italian American Citizens Club. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, keeping up with technology, and playing poker, especially Texas Hold'em.

Along with her husband, Vito, she ran the restaurant inside Johnnies Cafe on Central Street for over 10 years. She also worked in Birke's Department Store for over 15 years and more recently as a teacher's aid at the Lincoln School until her retirement.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph M. DePrenda and his life partner, Nancy Galvin of Derry, NH, and Ralph L. DePrenda and his wife Siwika of Lowell; a daughter, Donna L. Donahue of Lowell; one brother, Ralph Capotosto of Manchester, NH; five grandchildren, Dawn Chalifoux and her husband, James of Las Vegas, NV, Julie DePrenda of Nashua, NH, Sarah Wayne of Nashua, NH, Eddie Donahue of Lowell, and Michael DePrenda of Lowell; and three great grandchildren, Yovanni, Lexi, and Dayvison.
