Donald R. Mulcahy, Sr. 

THORNTON, NH Donald R. Mulcahy, Sr., 77, of Thornton, NH, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Bissett) Mulcahy.

 Donald was born in Lowell on August 31, 1940 and was a son of the late George Mulcahy and the late Lois (Santamour) Mulcahy. He was raised in Boston’s South End, where he attended the area schools. During high school he enjoyed playing football.

In 1969, Mr. Mulcahy enlisted with the United States Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam War, until his honorable discharge in 1970. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Marksman Badge Carbine, and the Expert Badge M-14.

Donald was employed for Teamsters Local 82 in Boston. He was a longtime resident of Hull before retiring to New Hampshire. He enjoyed taking walks, going for runs, skiing, and spending time at the mountains or the beach. Donald especially enjoyed taking trips to Martha’s Vineyard with his family.

He is survived by his two children, Debbie Stockdale and her husband, Mike of Pembroke, MA, and  Donald 'Stephen' Mulchay Jr. of Lowell; and three grandchildren, Tayler Mulcahy of Watertown, Michael and Evan Stockdale of Pembroke. He is also survived by two sisters, Joan Head of Florida (formerly Alabama), and Nancy Walls and her husband, Art of Florida; his sister in law, Barbara Mulcahy of Sharon, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

Donald was predeceased by his brothers, the late George Mulcahy, the late Richard Mulcahy, and the late Brian Mulcahy.

ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2017 YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS MEMORIAL VISITATION FROM 1 P.M.-6 P.M. WITH A SHORT PRAYER SERVICE AT THE CONCLUSION AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
