Diane Louise (Silva) Smith

LOWELL Diane Louise (Silva) Smith, 56, of Lowell, died after a long illness Friday, May 7, 2010 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was the wife of Daniel R. Smith Sr., with whom they would have celebrated their thirty eighth Wedding Anniversary next month.

Born November 23, 1953, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. Silva Sr., and the late Doris V. (Grandfield) Silva, and attended Billerica schools.

She resided in Lowell, and was a communicant of Saint Theresa of Lisieux Parish in Billerica. She loved to play bingo, and take trips to Foxwoods. She was a very kind and loving person. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her two dogs, Brownie and Lucky.

Besides her husband, Daniel, she is survived by three sons, Daniel R. Smith Jr. and his wife, Gretchen of Westford, Kevin D. Smith and his wife, Lisa of Nashua, and Steven L. Smith of Lowell; five sisters, Doris V. Danahy of Florida, Linda and Martin Ferwerda of Rye, NH, Nancy and John Bonenfant Carlisle, MA, Cindy Tome of Gloucester, MA, Karen Kirchner of Florida; a brother, Joseph Jr. and Renee Silva of Florida; nine brothers and sisters in law, Teri Nardini of Franklin, MA, Edward and Barbara Smith of Billerica, Jim and Dianne Smith of Pelham, NH, Michael J. Smith of Billerica, George A. Smith of Billerica, Dennis A. Smith of Billerica, and Joseph A. Smith of Billerica; six grandchildren, Samantha, Arianna, Victoria, Daniel-Norman, Ambur-Marie, Abigail-Amanda; close friends Terry and Jane Danahy; and many nieces and nephews. She is also the daughter in law of Olive M. Smith who passed away in 2001, and John E. Smith of Billerica.
