Demetris P. Gabriel
LOWELL Demetris P. Gabriel, 76, of Dracut, passed away unexpectedly July, 14, 2014 in Kalloni, Lesvos, Greece.
A son of the late Panagiotis and the late Despina (Iatropoulos) Gabriel, he was born November 8, 1937 in Kalloni, Lesvos, Greece. He was raised and educated in village of Skalohori, Lesvos and later moved to Athens and served as an officer in the Greek Navy. After his discharge from the military, he moved to America, settling first in Connecticut before moving to Boston area where he was a restaurateur and professional businessman until he retired.
Demetris loved cooking, gardening, visiting the beach and swimming in the ocean. He loved to discuss politics, the economy and history. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a communicant of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.
He is survived by his three children, Dana E. Ross and her husband, Brian of Chelmsford, Greg P. Gabriel and his wife, Dianne of Lowell, and Anna C. Snyder and her husband, Ryan of Lowell; his beloved granddaughter, Effie Lucille Gabriel; mother of his children Lucille Samaras and his siblings, Stavros Gabriel and his wife, Nikki of Athens, Greece, and Panagiota Rahoneli and her husband, Pari of Skalohori, Lesvos, Greece.
