Dolores M. Leite
DRACUT Dolores M. (Coelho) Leite, 90, of Dracut, died peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday, July 14, 2011, at D’Youville Senior Health Care Center, where she made her home for the past 4 years and was greatly comforted during her last days. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Leite who died in 1982.
The daughter of the late Julio and the late Theresa (Teixeira) Coelho, she was born October 26, 1920, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools.
She made her home in Dracut for over forty six years. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the Dracut Senior Citizens.
Dolores loved to crochet and do plastic canvas needlework. She made many beautiful afghans that she shared with her family and hats for her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a great story teller, reminiscing about her past and especially of the fond times she spent with her sisters and their families. Her nieces and nephews enjoyed her many visits and Christmas caroling with her and her sisters. She loved to dance and greatly enjoyed singing Portuguese songs and watching Portuguese programs.
A member of the International Garment Workers’ Union, she had worked as a stitcher for Lowell Lingerie for many years, retiring in November of 1982. Prior to that, she had also worked as a packer for Prince Macaroni in Lowell.
She is survived by her sisters, Ida Alves of Rye, NH, Gladys McMorrow of Bedford, MA, and Mary Brygider of Exeter, NH; her niece, Linda Beauchesne and her husband, Paul, of Pelham NH; her nephew, John Mendonsa and his wife, Jocelyn, of Litchfield, NH, her nephew and Godson, David Alves and his wife, Linda, of Rye, NH, and nephew-in-law John Caldwell of Pelham, NH. She is also survived by eight grand nieces, Marlene, Melissa, Rowena, Katie, Victoria, Mandy and her husband, Tim, Krissy and Joclyn and her husband, Josh, two grand nephews, Johnny and Billy, four great-grand nieces, Christina, Elizabeth, Hannah and Emily and five great-grand nephews, Dylan, Christian, Luis, Gavin and Derik.
She was also the sister of the late Deolinda Mendonsa, sister-in-law of the late John Mendonsa, Abel Alves, Charles Brygider and Edward McMorrow, the aunt and Godmother of the late Theresa Caldwell, and the aunt of the late Richard Alves, and great-grand aunt of the late Cole Iria.
