Delores J. ‘Deej’ (Mendes) Millard

LOWELL Delores J. ‘Deej’ (Mendes) Millard, 66, of Lowell, passed away on Saturday, October 31, after a brief battle with cancer at home with her family by her side.
She was born October 27, 1949, in Lowell, a daughter of the late Manuel Mendes, and the late Hilda S. (Sequeira) Mendes. Delores attended the Moody School before graduating from Lowell High School with the class of 1967, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.
Delores resided in the Highlands section of Lowell and was a communicant of St. Anthony Parish. She was employed as a receptionist for 39 years for Fred C. Church Insurance, before her retirement.
She was very generous and contributed to many charities and events throughout her lifetime. Delores enjoyed bowling, karaoke, and taking casino trips. She enjoyed spending her time watching Project Runway, countless cooking shows, as well as listening to Elvis and traveling to see Willie Nelson live with her sisters and friend. Her favorite activity was taking weekend shopping trips with her daughters. Although she had many passions throughout her life, spending time with her family is what brought her the greatest happiness.
Delores is survived by her son, Rob Millard-Mendez and his wife, Nancy Raen-Mendes of IN; her daughter, Marissa Millard of Gloucester and her companion, Matt Lombard of Lowell; her siblings, Maria G. Barbosa and her husband, John of Dracut, Manuel A. Mendes and his wife, Judith (Foley) of Tyngsboro, Antonio C. Mendes and his wife, Lorraine (Hingston) of Hudson, NH and Adeline T. Mendes of Dracut; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Delores was also the dear mother of the late Elaina Millard who passed away in 2013.

AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL, MA 978-458-6816. HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY PARISH, 893 CENTRAL STREET, LOWELL AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS IN HER NAME MAY BE MADE TO: DANA FARBER JIMMY FUND TRIBUTE, 1 HARVARD STREET, BROOKLINE, MA 02146.
