William Joseph DeFlorio
CARLISLE William Joseph DeFlorio, 83, a longtime Carlisle resident, U.S. Army Vet., died Jan 1, 2008 after a brief illness with his family by his side. He was the widower of the late Anne DeFlorio, with whom he had been married 45 years before her death in 1993.
Born Sept. 7, 1924, in Chelsea, he was a son of the late Joseph and the late Elizabeth DeFlorio. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and worked for Sylvania, Sperry Rand, Slumberger, and General Radio.
In 1968, he started Yankee Glassblower where he worked with his son until days before his passing. He was a member of the American Scientific Glassblowers Society and a communicant of St. Irene’s Church in Carlisle. He was an avid gardener and traveler, and was especially fond of spending time with his family.
He was a loving father to Patrick J. De Florio and his wife, Lorraine, of Arlington and Kathleen A. DeFlorio of Carlisle; devoted grandfather of Barbara DeFlorio, Emily Kenfield, and William DeFlorio all of Arlington; loving brother of Bernadine Sellers of Watertown, Elizabeth Wilder and her husband, Frank, of Winchester, Ollie Miles and her husband, David, of Aztec, NM, and George DeFlorio and his wife, Carola, of Woodland Hills, Ca; longtime friend Maryann Richards of Auburndale, and was the proud owner of Duke, his beloved black labrador retreiver.
He was also the brother of the late Robert DeFlorio, the late Ralph DeFlorio, and the late John DeFlorio.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS FUNERAL MASS ON SATURDAY AT 1 P.M. AT ST. IRENE’S CHURCH, 181 EAST ST., CARLISLE AND TO A RECEPTION TO FOLLOW IN THE CHURCH HALL. BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE PRIVATELY.
