LOWELL Daniel S. Machado, 82, of Lowell, died Thursday, October 18, 2012. He was born October 20, 1929 in Lowell.
He was a son of the late Joseph S. Machado Jr and the late Leonor P. Machado and the husband of Theresa C. (Ares) Machado who died October 6, 2001.
He graduated Lowell High School Class of 1948 and enlisted in the United States Navy on March 1949, serving in Hawaii and aboard the U.S.S. Brush DD 745 and was aboard her when she hit a mine on September 26, 1950 off the Coast of Korea with a number of casualties. He was honorably discharged January 23, 1953.
After many jobs, he went to woark as a letter carrier at the Lowell Post Office in 1962, serving twenty eight years retiring on December 29, 1989. He then started driving a school bus for Lowell and Tewksbury until 1999.
He is survived by his son, Daniel J. Machado and a daughter, Donna Rose Page, both of New Hampshire and his grandchildren, Jennifer Page, John Page, and Alexandra Machado. He was also the brother of the late Dorothy deSousa and John Machado of Lowell, and grandfather of the late Jessica J. Page who died on October 14, 2011 at the age of 11, and father in law of the late Kim Lee Machado who died on October 5, 2008.
